Frequently asked questions

Who are your tours for?
I offer tours, walks, and talks for small private groups. Clients include companies, event organisers, community groups (e.g. social clubs, horticultural societies), festivals, overseas visitors, and families and friends with something to celebrate. All tours can be tailored for your group.

How long are your tours?
I offer full and half day tours. Full day tours are up to 8 hours. Half day tours are up to 4 hours. Gallery visits and walks are generally from 60 to 90 minutes. Talks in person or online are around 45 minutes, plus 15 minutes for questions.

How much do tours cost?
Fees are for guiding services and are charged per group, whether that's for two people or 10 people. Full day tours cost from £380. Half day tours cost from £215. Gallery visits and talks are charged at the half day rate (£215). As a member of the Guild of Registered Tourist Guides, I work to the Guild's established fee structure and terms and conditions, which can be found here. My guiding profile can be found on the Guild website here.

What's included in a tour?
Generally, entrance fees, travel by taxi or by public transport, refreshments and meals are at your own cost. If any fees are included in addition to guiding services (see above), this will be agreed in advance and clearly outlined in a quote before you book your tour.

How big can a group be?
Small groups of up 10 usually work best for walks and for visits to galleries and museums. This means that everyone can hear, and getting about is easier. Larger groups can be accommodated for garden visits and day trips.

What if it rains?
Tours run whatever the weather. Please come prepared for all seasons. Comfortable shoes are a must!

Health and safety
All participants are responsible for their own safety during tours and take part at their own risk.
